Playable Art DC Launches in February 2016 – details to follow
Playable Art DC is a design competition developed by the District of Columbia’s Office of Planning and made possible by the generous funding of ArtPlace America.
The competition will search for talented artists, architects, industrial designers and other designers to create innovative and exciting play structures for the nation’s capital. The intention is to bring more creativity to the world of Washington’s children and thus stimulate their appreciation and understanding of art while they do what they do best: play.
Congratulations to the three communities selected to be homes for the winning Playable Art DC designs. They are:
Kennedy Street Mount Vernon Triangle Anacostia
The three non-traditional sites will serve as permanent homes for the play structures. They are unique locations such as along wide city sidewalks, in tiny pocket parks, and other unexpected places. Play and art should be everywhere. Details will be revealed soon.
